HORECA waste

The HORECA sector (Hotels, Restaurants, and Catering) generates a significant amount of waste, most of which currently ends up in landfills.

This project aims to transform HORECA waste into biobased fertilizers through a biotechnological process suitable for agricultural use. However, scaling this process presents challenges, such as the high substrate variability and limited availability of appropriate technology.

To overcome these obstacles, the project will focus on both the process and the technology, aiming to create sustainable biofertilizers. This will contribute to reducing reliance on mineral fertilizers, recycling food waste, and lowering carbon emissions.
